SOMERVILLE is a city of approximately 78,000 residents; we’re part of the “Knowledge Triangle” formed by nearby Harvard, MIT and Tufts. Identified by the Boston Globe as the “Best Run City in Massachusetts”, Somerville boasts a well-educated and diverse population that sees more than half the residents holding a bachelor’s degree or higher. From its historic and mostly blue collar industrial traditions, Somerville has evolved into a thriving but still funky mix of families, artists and innovators. We’re at the center of the “Maker Movement”, with thriving businesses such as Artists Asylum and Fringe Union. The Commonwealth’s largest and most successful clean energy incubator, Greentown Labs, recently decided to make Somerville their home. We’re one of the most walkable, bikeable cities in the nation. The first new MBTA Orange Line Station in thirty years will open this summer at Assembly Row. The Green Line Extension project, which will further link Somerville to downtown Boston and Cambridge, is under construction. In 2017, Partners Health Care will relocate nearly a million square feet of their operations into newly built space in Somerville.
